GUT RENOVATION FOR A BUSY FAMILY OF FOUR

This 1990's Colonial had not been structurally updated since it was built. The goal was to provide an elegant and family-friendly home. This was accomplished through new furnishings, wall coverings, artwork and many complementary fabrics and finishes.

“To counterbalance the creamy-beige bookcases, the designer, Holly Joe, chose a textural woven silk wall covering. The homeowner requested a mix of metal, leather, and glass furnishings. For the desk, Joe had a custom piece of glass fabricated for the polished-nickel base. The chair is comfortable and unstuffy.”

Including meaningful items can bring personality and visual interest to a room, as seen here in the brass étagère of personal mementos. A chinoiserie wallpaper backing lends an addition layer of depth.
